Job Description

This opportunity is for an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher to serve K-12 students in a school setting. The position is a leave replacement contract, beginning ideally the first or second week of August, with an expected duration through at least October. The role requires onsite presence in Tracy, California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and implement adaptive physical education programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  • Assess students physical capabilities and adapt activities accordingly to promote inclusivity and physical development.
  • Collaborate with general physical education staff, special education teams, and families to support individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in meetings related to student goals and accommodations.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all students during physical activities.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential or certification in Adaptive Physical Education.
  • Experience working with K-12 students requiring adaptive physical education services.
  • Strong knowledge of physical education techniques, disability accommodations, and individualized program development.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Tracy, CA, with flexibility to adjust for contract duration.
