Assistant Attorney General (Revenue & Regulatory Law) role at State of Colorado . The Revenue & Regulatory Law (R&R) Section seeks an attorney to join its dynamic and collaborative legal team. This is an opportunity to litigate and provide general counsel services in challenging areas of law that frequently present novel questions. Attorneys in the R&R Section handle a wide variety of complex issues and a diverse caseload of administrative, licensure, and disciplinary actions, primarily for the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) and for various independent judicial commissions, boards, and ombudsmen. The selected attorney will represent clients before the Office of Administrative Courts and other venues in defending agency determinations, and will also serve as general counsel, guide rulemaking, respond to legal questions, and advise on the legal impact of legislation. The selected attorney will primarily represent DORA divisions, boards, and commissions and independent judicial boards, commissions, and ombudsmen before the Office of Administrative Courts and other venues in defending agency determinations. This attorney may also assist on other matters, including litigation and general counsel matters. This is a team-oriented role in a multi-disciplinary group that involves both litigation and providing general counsel advice. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple attorney positions in the Revenue & Regulatory Law section.
Salary is based on a wage progression compensation model. Although a salary range is listed, salary will be set commensurate with qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Attorneys with less than 3 years of experience will be hired as an Assistant Attorney General I (AAG I) with a salary range of $88,197 $96,554. Attorneys with more than 3 years of experience will be hired as an Assistant Attorney General II (AAG II) with a salary range of $102,099 $136,558. Salary is paid biweekly.
Qualified applicants must be admitted to the Colorado Bar or be clearly eligible to waive into the Colorado Bar and be in good standing at the time of application. If eligible to waive into the Colorado Bar, you will be required to submit proof of your completed application and application for Practice Pending Admission before the first day of employment.
