DB2 AS400 Admin

Our client is seeking a skilled DB2 AS400 Admin to manage and maintain their AS400 database infrastructure. As a DB2 AS400 Admin, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of DB2 databases running on the IBM AS400 platform. You will handle database administration tasks such as installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security management. Your expertise in DB2 on AS400 systems will be crucial in supporting their organization's data needs and ensuring smooth database operations.

This is a fully remote, long-term contract open to US Citizens and Permanent Residents only on a 1099 basis. No agencies please.

Responsibilities
1. Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 database software on AS400 systems.
2. Create and manage DB2 databases, tablespaces, and other database objects.
3. Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and reorganizations.
4. Monitor database performance and resource utilization, and optimize as needed.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and connectivity problems.
6. Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls and data encryption.
7. Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to support database integration and application deployment.
8. Stay updated on the latest DB2 and AS400 technologies, tools, and best practices.

Requirements
1. Proven experience as a DB2 Admin/DBA, preferably on AS400 systems.
2. Strong understanding of DB2 database concepts, architecture, and administration tasks.
3. Proficiency in AS400 operating system administration and command-line utilities.
4. Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
5. Familiarity with database backup and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery planning.
6. Knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
7. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
8. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
