By creating small batch and made-to-order collections, MAE highlights the tailoring and craftsmanship of local artisans. Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Production and Design Assistant located in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The Production and Design Assistant will be responsible for supporting the production and design processes, assisting with coordinating and managing production schedules, working closely with the founder to execute and finalize design concepts, and providing customer service support. The Production and Design Assistant will also assist with tasks related to graphic design.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with design development, sourcing, fittings, and material research
Coordinate and track sample development and production with patternmakers and factories
Maintain detailed records, line sheets, and technical documents
Support atelier operations, including showroom prep, client appointments, and press pulls
Manage daily errands and production runs within the Garment District from Chelsea
Uphold the MAE New York standard of quality and craftsmanship at every stage
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Production, or a related field
1–2 years of experience in a design or production setting (internships welcome)
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and initiative
Enthusiasm for hands-on work and close collaboration with artisans and vendors
A deep appreciation for American-made luxury and the craft of fashion
