Title: Associate Instructor of Philosophy (G0005) Agency: Brightpoint Community College Location: Chesterfield - 041 FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience Full Time or Part Time: Full Time Additional Detail Job Description: Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Brightpoint Community College invites applications from qualified individuals for an Associate Instructor of Philosophy position . This role involves providing on-campus instruction at both the Chester and Midlothian campuses, with limited opportunities for online instruction. The teaching assignment primarily includes daytime and evening on-campus sections across both campuses. The Associate Instructor will teach the equivalent of 39–42 credits per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters). This position carries no formal student advising or committee responsibilities. The Associate Instructor role is a one-year only, teaching position with salary and benefits. Annual contracts for Associate Instructors may or may not be renewed in the subsequent year. This position is not eligible for promotion. Minimum Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Philosophy, or Master’s degree in any discipline with 18 graduate hours in the teaching area of Philosophy. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated excellence in pedagogy. The successful candidate must be willing to teach 15- or 7-week semester sessions, as well as a combination of day and evening traditional on-campus courses, and should expect to teach at both campus locations. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check are required. Additional Considerations: While online instruction will be minimal, certification or demonstrated excellence in teaching hybrid, synchronous, and online courses is preferred.
