Under direct supervision of the Pharmacist-In-Charge, the Pharmacy Delivery Driver transports dispensed medications to patients and other Open Door health centers, ensuring timely and safe delivery while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Compensation Range: $24.00-$27.87
This position is approximately 36-40 hours weekly between 9am-7pm. Start and end times of workday will vary.
Hmong and Spanish speakers who successfully pass a language exam will receive an additional .75 hourly differential to their wage.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Safe and efficient delivery of medications in a timely and safe manner.
- Upholds the patient's rights including privacy and confidentiality.
- Provides excellent customer service by interacting professionally with patients and health centers, ensuring a positive experience during deliveries.
- Inspect and maintain the delivery vehicle ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean, free of debris, and non-work related items.
- Reporting any delivery vehicle mechanical issues or concerns quickly and ensuring items are addressed in a timely manner. Update PIC immediately if deliveries are affected.
- Verify the accuracy of delivery and maintain accurate records of all deliveries.
- Obtain signature to confirm deliveries and maintain accurate delivery logs.
- Efficient route planning to follow designated routes and identify efficient routes to avoid delays.
- Returns any undeliverable packages to the pharmacy before the end of shift daily.
- May be asked to assist with some pharmacy clerk duties and responsibilities like preparing and packaging shipments for deliveries etc.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS: - Clean Driving Record: A valid CA driver's license and a clean driving record is required.
- Customer Service Skills: Clear, concise and effective communication skills with both the patients and Pharmacy/ Clinic staff to provide excellent customer service.
- Organization Skills: Ability to manage multiple deliveries and maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of Healthcare Privacy Regulations : Understanding of HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
- Familiarity with Local Streets and Routes: Knowledge of local areas and routes is helpful.
- Must be a fast learner who can adapt to changing work demands.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and organize time well.
- Skills in understanding of handling prescriptions and ensuring appropriate temperature control while transporting prescriptions.
- Must have attention to detail in the pharmacy processes involving prescription packaging and deliveries to minimize medication errors.
- Must be able to learn how to navigate a Pharmacy computer program and google maps with accuracy and efficiency to perform job duties and responsibilities.
- Must adhere to the Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures to perform job duties and responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish constructive professional working relationships among a diverse workforce.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and independently as needed.
- Ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner.
- Ability to multi-tasks and demonstrates flexibility in day-to-day duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - High school diploma or GED.
- One years of experience in a customer service role in a pharmacy preferred or other healthcare setting will be considered.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: - Valid Driver's License.
- Clean driving record and the ability to be insured under ODCHC's auto insurance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT: The Pharmacy Delivery driver reports directly to the Pharmacist-In-Charge and is an integral member of the Pharmacy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical requirements described are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
- Ability to communicate via telephone, video, and/or in-person.
- Vision adequate to read documents, computer screens, forms.
- Ability to drive 6-8 hours per day and make several stops while maintaining concentration, and deal with a variety of stressful situations including adverse weather, traffic and deadlines.
- Ability to load and unload packages and walk between locations.
- Continuous repetitive grasping and manipulation of both hands.
- Occasional reaching, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting, and climbing.
- Occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs.
- Understand/carry out simple/detailed, oral/written instructions with retention.
- Ability to travel locally and long-distance as needed.
- Ability to move around offices and clinics as needed.
- Read and interpret detailed specifications.
- Subject to random drug tests.
