(YTCA), the North American corporate research and development center of Yazaki Corporation, Japan is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to fill the position for a molecular biology research technician within its Microbiology R&D Group. Responsibility Reporting to the Manager of the Microbiology R&D group, this individual will serve as a key member of the laboratory’s research staff. The role will focus on advancing the Company’s knowledge base and core competencies in recycling technology, while also supporting potential product and process development initiatives. The individual will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and coordinate closely with other core competency areas across the Company. The individual will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining microbial cultures for the expression and secretion of heterologous proteins, while maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment. Additional responsibilities include DNA purification for 16S rRNA gene sequencing and microbial community analysis, primer design and preparation of polymerase chain reaction (PCR), protein purification and quantification, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, Western blot analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and microscopy techniques. The individual will also utilize bioinformatics tools and public databases, including NCBI and PDB, to support genetic analysis and data interpretation. Requirements The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, biotechnology, bioengineering, chemistry, or biochemistry. The successful candidate will be analytical and methodical in problem-solving, proactive and adaptable when facing new challenges, and motivated to deliver tangible results. They should demonstrate continuous learning, a dynamic mindset, and strong teamwork skills. The position requires close collaboration with technical staff across research and product development, as well as hands-on laboratory work. Candidates should demonstrate a can-do attitude, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in collaboration with others. The role also involves occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. and the use of a respirator when required.
