Job Description

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a

Oversee wildlife conservation initiatives in Asia, including species protection and recovery, protected areas, wildlife crime prevention, and community based conservation needs. Work with WWF network field leaders and experts to develop long-term wildlife conservation plans and strategies. Provide programmatic and operational leadership on WWF’s global tiger conservation initiative. Responsible for planning, budgeting, reporting, deliverables, and compliance. Monitor program and project performance. Identify and lead major fund-raising efforts with public and private sector partners to fund wildlife conservation programs. Serve as WWF spokesperson on key issues. Identify and create solutions to the political, social, scientific and management issues that confront WWF’s wildlife conservation work in Asia. Ensure that learning and best practices are shared across portfolios and geographies. Responsible for technical and scientific input on Asian Wildlife conservation priorities. Provide technical assistance, scientific information and policy advice to internal and external audiences. Work closely with communication teams to raise the profile of Asian species, especially tigers, and related wildlife conservation issues through social and traditional media and other external channels. Supervise technical and professional staff. Confer with scientists, engineers, regulators, and others to plan or review projects or to provide technical assistance. Tools used: SMART patrolling technology, GIS mapping, Satellite imagery/Wildlife Tech Applications for anti-poaching and law enforcement.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management or related field. Six years of experience fundraising for and implementing complex wildlife conservation projects at landscape or larger scale in Asia for endangered species including tigers. Field experience working on tiger conservation in Asia is required. Must have knowledge of policies and regulations governing protected area management and wildlife conservation across Asia. Travel to remote and physically demanding regions in Asia for project monitoring - 15%.
