Join to apply for the Senior Electrical Power Engineer role at HDR . Overview The power generation market is growing and HDR’s national Power Generation team is positioned for significant growth. We are seeking a qualified Senior Electrical Power Engineer to help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor. Responsibilities Lead teams for power generation design projects within a traditional Owner’s Engineering role, including development, contract support, and implementation oversight. Apply extensive experience in power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs (e.g., raceway, lighting, grounding). Mentor junior engineers, manage client relationships, and lead marketing activities such as proposal technical writing, fee development, and work breakdown structure creation in response to requests for proposals. Perform design and engineer-of-record responsibilities for power plant systems. Coordinate with Project Managers and Project Controllers during project reviews and guide other engineering staff as needed. Travel is expected to be minimal (less than 10%) for client meetings and project site visits. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical power generation or related design fields Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit) An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee-owned culture Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis. Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design. Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation. Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm. Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team. Extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, and related activities such as lighting and grounding design, instrumentation and life safety systems. Experience coordinating with Project Manager and Project Controller during project reviews with management as needed. Position will include an expectation of less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits. HDR is committed to equal opportunity employment.
