What You’ll Do (and Love Doing) Summary: The Assistant Manager supports the Signals Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of a high-volume convenience and fuel location. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining operational standards, and achieving sales and profitability goals. The ideal candidate is dependable, team-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced retail environment that takes pride in keeping things running smoothly and our customers smiling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Support: Assist in managing daily store and fuel operations, including cash handling, inventory control, merchandising, and safety compliance.
  • Lead the Crew by being the Store Manager's right-hand (and maybe the left too) by supervising and motivating team members to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain a clean, welcoming store environment.
  • Customer Experience: Lead by example in providing courteous, efficient service to all customers and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Team Development: Support training, coaching, and performance feedback to foster a positive and productive team culture.
  • Administrative Duties: Assist with scheduling, deposits, reports and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Sales & Performance: Help drive sales initiatives, manage promotional programs, and ensure that performance goals are met or exceeded.
  • Manage Coverage: Assume full store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform excellent customer service skills at all times.
  • Oversee daily cash transactions
  • Supports manager in all daily store operations
  • Maintain store appearance and product presentation to company standards
  • Ensure high level of sanitation or cleanliness of facilities, inside and outside
  • Directly participate in the merchandising and stocking of the sales floor
  • Monitor sales trends
  • Provide support to sales associates during peak periods or when scheduling conflicts arise
  • Prepare and complete daily shift reports
  • Ordering product and checking in inventory, pricing and stocking of product.
  • Coach and train retail associates on the proper execution of store duties
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of store including shift paperwork has been completed and opening/closing duties.
  • Accurate ordering and receiving responsibilities
  • Ensure proper entry of invoices into system
  • Ensure proper record keeping and avoidance of wastage
  • Regularly review cashier paperwork and records as directed by store manager
  • Investigate inventory variations and shortages
  • Perform daily computer entry and paperwork
  • Be available to work additional hours as necessary including evenings, weekends and holidays

Training:

  • EPA UST training class A, B, and C

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Other duties as assigned and requested.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous experience in retail, convenience store, or fuel station management preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, (written and verbal) - you can multi-task like a pro.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and point-of-sale systems (i.e. Petrosoft, Passport, Microsoft software).
  • Must be reliable, professional, and committed to maintaining company standards.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Reliable transportation for banking and other position requirements i.e. meetings etc
