In this role, you will engage in advanced technical work, employing both manual and electronic tools to collect surveying data for a range of engineering projects, including preliminary, construction, and final surveys. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will act as an instrument man or rodman within the survey team focused on mining activities. Your work will particularly concentrate on projects related to acid mine drainage, underground mine fires, refuse pile fires, surface mine reclamation, and issues stemming from subsidence. Your responsibilities will involve the operation of various surveying instruments, including GPS, total stations, EDMs, transits, and levels, to gather essential survey data. Additionally, you will manage high-precision geospatial equipment such as radios, receivers, controllers, and base stations. It is crucial to employ survey software for generating control reports and calculating coordinates, elevations, angles, and distances. You will also be tasked with recording, calculating, and verifying field notes, as well as making visits to county courthouses to collect vital project information, including surface and mineral ownership details and deed descriptions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
• One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associates degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.

Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid PA Class C non-commercial drivers license.
